Rapid implementation is key for any client who uses their system 24/7. When our client, Carillion, was facing 5 days downtime, we reduced it to three hours.
Whenever the team are working on a Maximo upgrade, we are always challenging the standard approaches in relation to downtime. The recent upgrade of Carillion from Maximo version 6.2 to 7.6 was given a forecast of 5 days, based on standard approaches. This was due to the system having over 100 gigabytes of data, collated from over 11 years, and having a highly customised system that was used 24/7.
This lengthy downtime, unsurprisingly, was unacceptable to the client who requires the system live to run over 30 of their FM contracts.
With our in-depth knowledge of Maximo, the Peacock Engineering team developed a rapid implementation system that significantly reduced the downtown and minimised the disruption to Carillion’s team.
The end result was a planned three hour outage that not only allowed the system to be upgraded but also introduced a new mobility capability through Fingertip.
